We will work with you to make you more comfortable. Our philosophy is that you need 3 things: a design that reflects your brand, a domain name and a hosting service to support your site--a personalized e-mail address is an added bonus!

But I'm not ready!

You don't need as much as you think. Your headshot and your resume will get you enough to get your brand started. Our MiniRock product will allow you to get your headshot, contact information and a printable version of your resume out and available to casting directors. You can always add on to your site later as you accumulate photos, press, etc. Take the first step and worry about the rest later.

What is domain registration?

Every website has a unique website address. To keep things straight, each site has to be registered. Your 1st choice might not be available, but you can almost always find a domain name that reflects who you are (ex. JaneSmithJones.com might not be available, but SmithJonesActor.com might be).

What is web hosting & why do I need it?

You've secured the domain name you want, now what? Simply put, the photos, pages, media files, etc. have to live somewhere. So you need a server (really really big computer) to save them to. The site files essentially live on this server, and when someone searches for your home page, it is pulled from this server and viewed over the internet.

Do my files live on BedRock's computer?

Yes and no. We keep a copy of your files, but the actual server is not in our offices. BedRock contracts with Network Solutions. We selected them as our registration and hosting company because they are one of the most established, reliable services available.

Can I just call your hosting company directly?

Absolutely. That is always an option for you. Network Solutions will work with you and then you can provide BedRock access to your account to upload your design. We offer the service of securing your domain name and assigning the domain to one of our hosting packages as a convenience. Because BedRock purchases these services in packages, we frequently can offer better pricing options.

Is it better to go through BedRock?

It is simpler. And probably less expensive. But we will work with any registration and hosting company you choose. If you find a company that you are happy with, whether it is becuase you've used them for 10 years, or they are less expensive, we will do everything we can to work within their system.

Are there any limits to working outside of your hosting services?

Yes, there are. The process of securing a domain name and linking it to a hosting package takes mere minutes through our account. We provide this complimentary service as part of our overall package. Our assumption is that the process will be as simple with another registration/hosting company. Therefore, we allot one hour for this service. If, for whatever reason, we are not able to navigate the services within that time limit, we will contact you to discuss the situation.

Do I get an e-mail address with my website?

If you go through our service, you will get a personalized e-mail address with your website. Other packages vary, but most will include an e-mail address.

How much storage comes with that e-mail address?

Our package offers 1MB of storage. HOWEVER, if you forward the service to your gmail account (and don't save a copy in your webmail account), e-mails are not stored in your package, so your limit is the same as your g-mail account.

I don't want to be greedy, but....What if I want more than one e-mail address?

You can have up to 3 additional aliases that will forward to your primary e-mail address (ex. casting@yourname.com, rehearsal@yourname.com and contact@yourname.com can all be collected into jane@yourname.com

Economy

If I already have a domain name, what can I expect to pay?

If you have an existing domain and hosting company, your best option may be to stay where you are for the term of your agreement. We can help you transfer everything over, but we understand the value of using up what you've got. Again, an hour should be enough to get the design you've approved loaded onto your existing service. When that term expires, we can look at the overall price of transferring your domain and securing service through us and determine if that is the best choice for you.

Why does it cost more per year for shorter packages?

That's easy--it's less expensive for us to purchase longer blocks of service and we pass those savings on to you. We can offer shorter terms, and we try to keep these costs minimal, but it is more economical to purchase longer terms.

Templates?

Can a template really reflect my personal brand?

We completely get it. You are unique. How can a template express your brand? We offer a wide range of templates. Different layouts and formats. We allow you to change anything within any given layout (color, font, etc.). We want you to be proud and excited to offer this brand. It's a balance. We want to make it as personal as possible for a reasonable price. Right now, one day as a day player will pay for the design and a five-year service package (with a little left over!). It is an investment in your career, just like headshots or a portfolio. While we think the Basic BedRock is the best value, we also offer the MiniRock to get you started.

What if I can't find a template I'm completely happy with?

If you've looked and even with changing colors and fonts you don't see yourself in one of the templates we offer, it may be time to discuss a custom site. Our designers love to work on new ideas, so call or send us an e-mail to get the custom process started! See examples of custom sites here.

Custom Sites sound expensive?

It depends. Custom sites start at $450.00 for a one-page site. BedRock Web Designs is a subsidiary of BedRock Designs, LLC. We are fully prepared to build your custom site from the ground up. Our first step is to meet with you and discuss your needs. Then we'll provide you with an estimate for a fully customized site. It all depends on what you want—you may be able to get everything you want for the base custom price of $450.00!

What if you build me a custom site and I still don't like it?

Hopefully our consultation will get us close to your vision, but BedRock is dedicated to building your brand and making certain you are confident sharing that brand. We will work with you to shape the site to your vision.

Security

Is the ordering process secure?

Yes! BedRock Web Designs has secured an SSL Certificate so that your transaction is secure!

How do I know my transaction is safe?

There are several markers that indicate our security certificate. First, the web protocol is https://.... which indicates it is a secure site. Second, the icon on each page (and next to the submit button on the Orders page) is a symbol of the security certificate. If you click on that icon, it will show you all of our certificate information. We also use PayPal for the financial portion of your transaction for another level of security.

What if I just don't feel safe transacting on the Web? Can I still place an order?

Of course! Your confidence level is the most important thing. If you prefer not to send payment online, please call or e-mail us. We can either take your payment over the phone, or we'll e-mail you a payment form. You can pay either by check or credit card through the mail.
